Feeling festive today? I am! I decided to stage an impromptu photo shoot using my growing stash of party supplies. You may recognize them from previous Retro Foodie photo shoots. Sprinkles, confetti, washi tape, swizzle sticks and more… I’ve grouped them into party concepts that would be fun for any retro-style fête. Now time to celebrate!
Cruise Chic
There’s something about sword picks that will always remind me of a cruise ship cocktail party. Throw in some confetti, and it’s time to set sail…
Lately I’ve been obsessed with colorful ’80s design–vivid hues set against a backdrop of white. This mood board inspired the concept for Mirror80’s 3rd birthday party. And the confetti you see above and below was abundant at that very gathering! The swords came later…for our Neon Noir party. But I couldn’t help putting both confetti and sword together in this first party concept. We’ll call it “Cruise Chic”…
Neon Goodness
You can’t have too much decorative tape on hand…or too many sprinkles! Neon orange and pink flagging tape (yes, the kind used by surveyors) is perfect for embellishing accessories such as vases. It also colorfully enhances gift wrap!
The hot orange, mint green and sprinkle-themed washi tape (shown above and below) was used to decorate my 2014 planner not too long ago. Throw in the sprinkles, and this collection of supplies looks good enough to eat! We’re calling the party concept “Neon Goodness.”
A Hint of Tribal
We end with a party concept that’s a little bit tribal and a little bit Memphis-Milano. The supplies you see in this last section of the post were prominently displayed for Mirror80’s 3rd birthday party. I wonder what we’ll do for our 4th birthday celebration this August…
For now, we’re reveling in the waves, zigzags and dots of the garland and swizzle sticks shown above and below. Berry tones and a big dose of yellow make a great combination! We’re calling this concept “A Hint of Tribal”…
Can you tell I tend to favor colorful, bold concepts when it comes to throwing parties? Have a festive day, Everyone!
