Happy Wednesday, Everyone! Today I’ve rounded up a collection of images featuring the best in retro style on the internet, and I thought I’d point you to some posts and listings that have inspired me in my recent creative endeavors! From elegant ’80s fashion and interiors to delicious recipes and party concepts, this week it’s all about going glam. Read on for more details…
TOP ROW (L to R):
Remember our post on the ’80s kitchen? We were delighted when Zest pointed to this piece in their recent article titled “60 Years In Kitchens“! As you may have guessed, we were featured in the ’80s section of the article, which gives a decade-by-decade snapshot of kitchen style over the years. Thank you, Zest!
Anyone else a fan of 1stdibs? I adore browsing this site for amazing 1980s finds. Even if items are often beyond my price point, I’ve learned a lot about the decade’s top designers, thanks to listings for premium pieces like the clutch at the top right of today’s montage (see above). It’s a 1980s Judith Leiber Grey, Black and Clear Fan Minaudiere from Treasures & Pleasures. Yes, the piece truly is covered in crystals!
If you’re drooling over the cupcake above, so are we! Featured at Cupcakes Take the Cake, this delectable item is a Mountain Dew & Doritos cupcake. You heard us! It’s about time upscale desserts started incorporating our favorite snack foods from the ’80s… How’s that for a retro-style snack with a foodie twist? [Image from 4 Rivers Smokehouse]
BOTTOM ROW (L TO R):
Speaking of retro foodie items… I was recently reminded of the fun I had putting together our ’80s Yuppie Cocktail Party, the March installment of our Retro Foodie series! The cocktails, greenery and marble tile in the image above reminded me of a scene from the 1988 film Working Girl. If you missed yesterday’s post on shopping retro at antique malls, it’s not too late to check out the Working Girl mug I picked up this past weekend!
The gorgeous gown you see above is another fabulous 1stdibs find–a 1980s Scaasi One-Shoulder Chiffon Gown from Shrimpton Couture.com. We’re loving the radiant shade of emerald green!
Remember the 1985 movie adaptation of the board game Clue? It was one of my favorite films as a kid! Which is why I was delighted to come across this Clue-themed dinner party from Camille Styles. I love the chic conservatory-style feel of the event, as well as the glamorous attire…
Hope you’re all having a great week (with just the right dose of elegance). Thanks for reading…
