So Sottsass!

I have artist Dominic Joyce to thank for this post! Last week he brought today’s featured installation to my attention… London decor retailer Darkroom is currently honoring the work of Memphis-Milano designer Ettore Sottsass with an in-store tribute featuring a limited edition collection. The participants include the likes of Studiopepe, Jamie Julien-Brown, Stone Theatre and more. Titled “So Sottsass,” the installation includes upscale items such as marble trays, totem lights and hand painted ceramics, along with more affordable offerings such as wrapping paper. Check out the delicious finds below…

How amazing are the So Sottsass Cushions above? Featuring a hand screen-printed pattern, each cushion includes a reverse pattern on the back. Love that piping in bright colors! Below we see my latest obsession: marble platters from Stone Theatre. So gorgeous and ’80s fabulous! Let me start by saying that the work of artisans is well worth every penny, and purchasing these platters would be the ideal option. However, since they are not in my budget at this time, I’m trying to find a way to do a little DIY version of my own (I’ll keep you posted)…

Look at these vibrant geometric Totem Lights by artist and designer Jamie Julien Brown! Seriously, these belong in a museum!  The best part: They are crafted from antique or unique glass and ceramic lampshades taken from Julien-Brown’s own personal collection!

For those who have to watch the pocketbook (I include myself in this group, folks)… There are plenty of amazing items in the So Sottsass collection that are affordable. Like this wrapping paper! I’m thinking about ordering a batch and using it to wrap my Christmas gifts this year (then saving/possibly framing a portion for posterity)…

Head on over to Darkroom for all the Memphis-Milano fun! Hope your week is off to a great start…
