Hi Everyone! If you’ve read our last few editions of New Retro Weekender, you know that my weekends tend to be packed with DIY projects, blogging and other retro fun. This weekend I’m needing to do nothing but veg out. And I haven’t had a weekend like this in about four months. After a crazy week that consisted of nursing a very ill kitty back to health and continuing to finalize the plans for my move in June (all the while keeping up at work), I’m in need of a little break. Check out my plans below, then leave a comment and tell me how you veg out when life gets a little too full…
MY WEEKEND AGENDA:
Catch up on sleep! Wish I had the Vintage ’80s Geometric Bed Sheets shown at the top left of the montage! They come from Etsy shop Pumpkin Truck. I’m hoping for some sweet dreams. On that note, the dreamy bubble image at the bottom of the montage is from Tumblr ELECTRI-CUTE.
Chill out with some mellow music. You saw Mirror80’s post on Yacht Rock, right? Lately I’ve been enjoying the Michael McDonald station on Pandora, and this weekend, it’s going to be all about Hall and Oates. Speaking of Hall and Oates, did you know that they are currently on tour? Check out all the details here!
Aim to be a “Brand New Girl” by Monday. You know when you’re so tired that strangers look concerned when they have conversations with you? When I wore my slipper boots as part of my ensemble yesterday, I knew I’d crossed a line that I shouldn’t be crossing. So hopefully I can rejuvenate and do a little wardrobe reworking this weekend. When Monday comes, maybe I’ll look as bright-eyed as Geena Davis in the montage above!
Eat pizza. This is my ultimate comfort food. I crave it when I’m sick, and since I was a kid, I’ve felt it was the perfect way to indulge. Speaking of pizza, did you know that there is an ’80s-themed pizza place in Westland, Michigan called Slice of the 80’s? And that their marketing campaign and restaurant interior are completely ’80s-themed? They also have a blog that regularly covers 1980s topics (like 80’s movies for pizza lovers)! Not kidding, folks. Check out their CRAZY AWESOME commercials here. (Pizza image at the bottom left of the montage is from VisitPalmBeach.com)
Watch ’80s movies. Are there ’80s movies that comfort you? For me, films like Baby Boom and When Harry Met Sally do the trick. Plus, given that my new place has a few great 1980s interior details, I’ll be looking for design ideas from my favorite decade. Scanning films like these is a great start! Wishing you all a restful weekend! Happy Friday!
