Today we visit a few homes that haven’t been renovated in at least two decades. And unlike the folks at Ugly House Photos, we think the featured bathrooms in today’s post are pretty freakin’ awesome. Who needs granite countertops and dark wooden cabinets when you have patterned tile and bathtubs in any color but white? Thank goodness the fine folks who owned these homes left them alone, because now we have a pure glimpse into our favorite decade and the powder rooms that decorated it.
Above we see an image from I Heart My Room. Is this a pic from an article on dealing with ugly bathroom tiles, or is it a set from the latest Urban Outfitters catalog shoot? Somehow the mauve tub isn’t an eyesore with that tiled masterpiece behind it! Below we see the Memphis-Milano-style magic that happens when you combine glass block, a black tub and tiles in primary colors. Thank you, Ugly House Photos, for alerting us to this bathroom from a home that was oddly built in 1996!!!
On a similar note, we now see another bitchin’ find from Ugly House Photos, this time with slightly less color. As one reader commented, this is a room fit for Zach Morris. Or any Saved by the Bell character, for that matter:
We end with an homage to metallic wallpaper. In fact, this bamboo-fabulous pattern is just about perfect, especially when combined with a deep mauve tiled sink. Throw in a Neo Deco vase and add some paint to the cabinets, door and frame, and this room could be an ’80s-fabulous gem, don’t you think? Once again, thanks to Ugly House Photos for finding the best in 1980s powder room style!
Have a stylish Wednesday! And remember, there’s nothing wrong with being a little outdated…
