Hey all you dreamers out there… Today we spotlight three ’80s postcards from Etsy shop Il Giardino Luxor. These collectibles feature artwork from Italian postcard company Arti Grafiche Ricordi. Since we couldn’t stop with just one, we decided to highlight three 1980s-fabulous selections featuring beautiful, wistful young ladies in various states of daydreaming. Since most of us will never indulge in a bittersweet moment while seagulls fly overhead, a swan uses our scalp as a launchpad or two birds becomes friends in the windowsill below, we can at least live vicariously through these lovely heroines…
Il Giardino Luxor features vintage school supplies and graphic design items (notebooks, notepads, postcards) from the ’70s and ’80s. Affordable, stylish and impeccably curated, the shop’s offerings couldn’t be more awesome. Take the seagull postcard below, complete with an emotional double face image. Note the romantic couples near the top and bottom of the card. Is the artwork’s heroine torn between two lovers? Is she in a hazy daze over one guy who is twice the fun? You decide!:
In our next postcard we have a lovely lady deep in thought by the window. She may be missing someone special or fighting an inner battle, but what she doesn’t know is that nature is on her side! Would there be framing ivy and harmonious birds nearby if this were not the case?
The final postcard, also shown at the top, features a swan surrounded by flowers (peonies?). Oh yeah, and the bird and blooms form a dreamy hat for a regretful/yearning/distracted beauty with the perfect shade of plum eye shadow. This one made such an impression on us, we had to use it as our header image for today’s post!
A special thanks to Il Giardino Luxor for inspiring this piece! Be sure to check out their Etsy shop full of unforgettable finds… Happy Wednesday!
