It’s no secret that Mirror80 is a wee bit obsessed with Swatch Watches! So you can imagine our surprise when we stumbled across a brand spanking new ’80s tribal Swatch on the pages of a fashion magazine. After further research, it seems other ’80s motifs (such as zebra print) are now gracing the Swatch collection! With ’80s fashion motifs once again in full effect, it’s no surprise that Swatch would catch on and bring back a bit of the decade that made them famous!
Above we see the Wonder Zebra and Wonder Tube watches from the Swatch Sports Collection. Aren’t they wild and wonderful like the Swatches of yesteryear?! Ok, so diehard ’80s Swatch fans may argue with us on that point, but maybe we can tempt you with the Swatch below…
The Pretty Bohemian Swatch Watch (from the Art & Fashion Collection) is definitely boho chic, but we think the motif looks a bit ’80s Southwestern. The piece was designed by Uma Wang, and it features embroidered straps! We also hope that this is the first of many more ’80s tribal Swatches to come. Seriously–what could be more perfect? The young and hip would be intrigued, while the slightly older and hip-ly nostalgic would also celebrate (don’t worry–I’m including my mid-’30s self here)! We can always dream of a full-on ’80s Swatch revival… Happy Friday!

I have never liked wearing wristwatches but those swatch watches made me change my mind! The blue one is nice, I hope they release more 80's-inspired watches! I love geometric patterns, like many of the old ones had. The 80's patterns are back, even on clothing! It's great! 🙂

I agree! Swatch really flourished in the '80s–I'd think they'd want to revisit some of their old designs, especially since the '80s have been back for awhile now in the realm of fashion. Geometry works so well with Swatch–they need to release more watches with geometric patterns!

I think I'm going to have to pick up the Wonder Tube model. These are the best new Swatch designs I've seen since Jeremy Scott's Punk Swatch.

Thanks for pointing me to the Punk Swatch. I hadn't seen it–wow! No wonder you're a fan! I'm partial to the Wonder Tube model as well.

They’re very nice, but I would like to see the Jellies and others like Technosphere be produced again. These Swatches are reminiscent of 80s style sure, but something isn’t quite right. I have 4 Swatches from back in the 80s, which are all mint, and I think I’ll stick to those instead of buying new. I wouldn’t mind buying the band of the Wonder Tube though. I think the Pretty Bohemian Swatch would have been easier to read with white hands instead of black.
