Today’s music video comes to us from Dutch synth-driven duo Future World Orchestra. Resist the urge to classify it as a parody–this is the real deal, folks! The group was formed in 1980 by members Robert Pot and Gerto Heupink. “Desire” was a product of their first recording session, along with the tracks “Airborne,” “I’m Not Afraid of the Future” and “Casablanca Nights.”
Today we revel in the video magic that is “Desire,” a piece I wouldn’t know about if it weren’t for my friend and fellow percussionist Andy. Thanks to him, I’ve been introduced to a whole new “Future World!” As you watch today’s video, be on the lookout for:
- Matching attire that rivals the likes of Devo and Kraftwerk
- Modern grid flooring that makes overhead shots look like art
- A sound that will make you wonder how the world got along before the advent of the synthesizer
- Lots of hand clapping, swooning and crooning
Enjoy the musical talents of Future World Orchestra…and Happy Friday:
