A Very '80s Valentine's Day

A Very '80s Valentine's Day

It must be love–a love of ’80s style! Whether you enjoy reveling in Valentine’s Day motifs or you’re looking for some seasonal reading material, the blog posts below should pique your interest with their heart-filled content. Love through the lens of the ’80s was brighter, shinier and flashier. Not to mention super cute! Enjoy:

Friday Video Pick: “Let Me Be the One” by Expose

Image from The Decorating Book by Mary GilliattIf only there were a music video that embodied the spirit of the room shown at the left… a room that housed an original Jim Dine painting complete with paint-doused hearts. A room showcased in The Decorating Book by Mary Gilliatt, an ’80s interior design classic. If that very room appeared in music video form, it would be “Let Me Be the One” by Expose. Bring on the ruffled party dresses, hair bows, and of course, the drama.

Spotlight: ’80s Cute

'80s cute decorWhy was merchandise so darn cute in the ’80s? From desktop supplies to picture frames, it was hard not to notice an abundance of hearts, dots and diagonal lines. Throw in a grid and a teddy bear and we’re in ’80s dreamland. Want a closer look at the cuteness? This post should do the trick.

I Heart ’80s Silver Jewelry

an '80s silver heart necklaceIn what other decade were girls of all ages weighed down with jewelry larger than their faces? Well, maybe a little smaller than that… but wow, was it flashy! Is there hope for reviving these pieces? Etsy and eBay think so. So does Mirror80. Take a walk down nostalgia lane with our gallery of silver delights, then brainstorm ways to give them a modern touch!

Friday Video Pick: “Two of Hearts” by Stacey Q

Stacey QRead about versatile performer Stacey Q and enjoy the music video for her 1986 hit “Two of Hearts.” Not only is the video a tribute to romantic longing, it’s a fashion show of ’80s ensembles and hairstyles. Whether you favor up-dos, down-dos, beach wear or evening wear, we think you’ll find something you like here…

Happy Valentine’s Day from Mirror80
