On August 15th, Mirror80 celebrated its 8th birthday!!!! Yes, I started the blog back in 2010, before the ’80s design revival had officially hit. Memphis-Milano hadn’t been mined for New Memphis possibilities, and only a handful of ’80s interior design images were available online. Now thanks to sources such as Tumblr, you can see MANY photos of ’80s interiors, scanned from the original design books. The accessibility of retro imagery has made me think a lot about what Mirror80 can continue to bring to the table.
What’s in store for this blog? Well, I’m definitely not going anywhere! It’s in my blood, and there is still SO MUCH design goodness that hasn’t yet resurfaced. I’m interested in uncovering some lesser-known design styles from the Decade of Decadence. I’m also interested in writing more posts about nostalgia and the reasons why we hold onto certain trends while leaving others behind. Last but not least, when I post design images, there will always be a purpose, whether it’s highlighting a specific trend or rounding up images with a common theme (to inspire you in your design endeavors).
There are also a few surprises in store, starting with the Society 6 shop that Mirror80 launched earlier this year. There are just a few offerings at this point in time, but I’ll be sharing more as I get this venture underway. And in case you’re wondering, yes, I’m one of those bloggers who eats the food in her photo shoots. And that cupcake was delicious! [the plate is from the Oh Happy Day Shop]
Thank you for your comments, your support, your readership and your camaraderie. There’s nothing like celebrating the “recent retro” with others who love this amazing period in design history. Cheers to all of you!!!

Before the 80s revival, your blog was my only gate to the design, furniture, art of this time. THANKS A LOT! Pls, never forget about this site. I always come here!
