This weekend the sun came out for the first time in days, so I hit the Arboretum with my hubby for a January walk. What’s the Arboretum? It’s an open-air mall featuring some pretty amazing landscaping, several office buildings and an upscale hotel (which you may remember from this post). Did I mention the Arboretum opened in 1985? Some amazing buildings to gawk at here…
Above we see The Renaissance Hotel from the front and the back, and we also get a glimpse of the hilly view from the grounds. Many of the trees in this area stay green all year long, but those that were bare almost looked fall-like, thanks to the sunset. There’s a little path that leads you behind the hotel, offering a glimpse of office buildings through the trees in the distance:
The path dead ends into an office building, and near the end, we found ourselves facing an amazing covered walkway connecting the office building to a parking garage. Loved the sunlight at this hour, as well as how the parking garage was reflected in the windows of the building:
I thought I’d take a quick moment to say hello–Hi! I’m just glad it’s not 30-something degrees and raining! It felt like that scene in Legend when the sun finally emerged again. If Legend were set in an ’80s office park…
As we walked back down the path, I had to take one more photo of the trees. Then it was time to explore the office buildings and landscaping on the other side of the Arboretum.
Can you tell that I spend a lot of time looking up while on the walk?!
But when the buildings and the trees are this enchanting during the sunset hour, how can you not take it all in?!
A few more snapshots of tall oak trees, golden light, metal planters and spherical garden ornaments…
Soon the sun set behind the hills and it was time to say good night. Which meant time for dinner, drinks and dancing. Which was exactly how our night ended, minus the drinks and dancing.
Thanks for letting me share Mirror80’s first outdoor photo shoot of 2015. I hope your new year is off to an amazing start!
