Feeling crafty? Kate here, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of Mirror80’s recent featured DIY projects. Many of you know that I also blog for Decoist, and one of my favorite design blogging pastimes is creating original projects. When there’s an overlap between the retro and the modern, I share those endeavors here on Mirror80! Above we see my latest creation, a DIY Geo Wall Art project. It has a bit of an ’80s Southwestern look, don’t you think?! Read all about it here.
Next we have a marble and mineral scape project featuring materials such as food coloring-dyed sand, mineral specimens, marble tiles, and hardware such as washers in silver and gold tones. Follow this link for all the details.
Back in March I created this DIY Painted Planter by re-purposing a votive candleholder I bought for a few dollars at Goodwill (any size/style of votive will do). I painted the top white–I found the cream and dark wood combo to be very retro, then filled each opening with gravel, soil, succulents and sand. Top it all of with crystals and you’re done. Check out all the details here.
In addition to the projects I create for Decoist on a regular basis, I love brainstorming new retro endeavors here at Mirror80. From guiding you to the latest in ’80s-style DIY supplies to sharing new ideas such as Marble Tile Art and Paper Strip Art projects, Mirror80 has you covered when it comes to the retro DIY realm. I’ve got some exciting projects in store for summer.
Stay tuned…
