Let’s end the week with another DIY project! Remember all of that marble-style ikat fabric that dominated pillows, bedding and window draperies in the 1980s? Today’s DIY endeavor channels that very look while simultaneously celebrating the current marble craze. In fact, this project is so easy, you can go from start to finish in 15 minutes. Nail polish is the ingredient of choice! Check out all the details in my latest post for Decoist, and enjoy a sneak peek below…
I’ve made no secret of my obsession with marble. I’m constantly purchasing marble tiles from Floor & Decor, then stacking, leaning and arranging them in various vignettes. Above we see a close-up of one of my favorite green selections.
A container of water, a few tubes of nail polish, a stick for stirring, and the surface of your choice (such as a canvas) are all you need to make this project a reality!
One quick warning: this project is a bit fragrant. And by that, I mean full-on nail polish aroma to the max! So work in a well-ventilated area. But don’t hesitate to enjoy the process. Nail polish + water = dreamy artscapes!
I chose peachy rose and mint green polishes for my marble art creations. Low and behold, a teal and mauve effect was the result. Wouldn’t a black frame be perfection?!
