In honor of “Lobby Chic” Week here at Mirror80, I thought I’d share a few snapshots from my ’80s-inspired bedroom. Lately I’ve been a bit obsessed with marble tile. I buy it at home improvement stores and flooring retailers. The last time I went on a tile binge at Floor Decor, I left with an armful of marble pieces and paid no more than $20. What do I do with these tiles? I stack them. I lean them against the wall. Sometimes I use them in my DIY projects. The possibilities are endless…
I enjoy using them as mini-pedestals for objects such as paperweights:
…and mineral specimens!
For a tropical touch, I added an air plant to an ’80s vase, then placed it next to my marble tile and quartz display:
The top of my dresser is filled with marble tiles. My hubby says that our room sometimes reminds him of a bank lobby. I answered, “And that’s a bad thing?!”
I’ve been using marble contact paper to create DIY art in recent months. I love mini-blind motifs and geometry!
Thanks for reading–I’ll share more snapshots of our ’80s-style bedroom when the “makeover” is complete!

I work for an architect and am always cleaning out the stone and ceramic tile sample bins and taking things home.

I really like it! And I love your art, very creative! It looks like real 80s art 🙂 Looking forward to see the rest of the room.

Thank you so much! I still have some work to do on the rest of the room, but hopefully I’ll make some good progress soon. ; – )
