Nothing says “’80s lobby” like a shiny metal planter! Sometimes silver-toned, sometimes brass, these chic containers graced many a desktop and shelf in the 1980s. We’ve featured their sleek allure in a previous post, and today we spotlight this stainless steel selection by German company Blomus, whose home and office products are notoriously well-crafted and irresistibly modern.

I’ve wanted one of these planters for years, and when my hunt at vintage furniture shops proved less than fruitful, I thought, “Surely someone is manufacturing these babies new.” Enter Blomus, with their stainless steel offerings in a variety of sizes and price levels. I’m thrilled with the newest addition to my living room, and I must say the long leaves of my bird’s nest fern are a great complement to the metal surface of the container. Perhaps one day I’ll add a large spiky-leafed dracaena to the mix and place it in one of Blomus’ larger floor planters. That’ll really ignite the ’80s lobby vibe…
