We all love that song from The Breakfast Club, but for today let’s hear one of Simple Minds’ OTHER hits…
In this visually interesting video directed by Polish filmmaker Zbigniew Rybczyński, the Scottish band performs “All the Things She Said.” Get ready. Not kidding–Simple Minds lead singer Jim Kerr showcases a wardrobe that would make any theater department jealous (look for the money pants near the end of the piece). Kerr also displays an assortment of exotic birds with the guardian-like confidence of Rutger Hauer in Ladyhawke.
Also be on the lookout for some awesome statement jewelry courtesy of talented back-up vocalist Robin Clark. And let’s not underestimate the calm smile of guitarist Charlie Burchill–a nice contrast and compliment to Jim Kerr’s signature energetic down-tempo dancing.
The video’s forward-moving editing and constantly unfolding visuals are perfect for this epic song. Enjoy this first Friday of the new year!

Old post but I just found it. Vivid memory: I had been out of the Marines 3 months. Came home from work and my sisters and brother were watching MTV while my Mom was in the kitchen.
This was playing on our old Toshiba 20″ TV. Simple times. Simple Minds.

Thanks for sharing the memory, Joe! My most vivid memories from the ’80s involve music as well. And music video! Thanks again for your comment.
