While an ’80s revival hit the fashion realm years ago, it’s the world of graphic design where a 1980s design revival is currently exploding, particularly on screen. Let’s start with the screen of your favorite mobile device. This year Glow Play released Radballs, a unique, ’80s-inspired puzzler for the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. Set against the background of a heavy synth soundtrack, Radballs comes to life with ’80s-fabulous colors like hot pink, aqua and yellow, and with motifs including diagonal lines and dotted backgrounds.

The world of 1980s interior design is a richly complex one. From metallic accents to striking angles and curves, many ’80s motifs are surprisingly modern–even timeless–making them easy to integrate into today’s design. When I first wrote this post three years ago, the ’80s revival hadn’t officially hit the world of design. Only a handful of images featuring 1980s interiors were available online. Not to mention, many people still cringed when hearing the phrase “’80s furniture.” Oh how times have changed, thanks to phenomena like the Memphis-Milano revival and the ’80s Tumblr! ’80s-Style Men’s Shirts from Topman
While shopping this weekend, I came across an assortment of ’80s-style shirts for men. As it turns out, Topman has been heavily influenced by 1980s colors, patterns and cuts in the creation of their new collection. Today we celebrate the fun of flamboyant design, as well as the joy of the slightly over-sized fit. As Topman claims, “Our new 80’s inspired fit with wider, dropped shoulders and fuller sleeves is designed to create an oversized streetwear silhouette.” And with sizes ranging from XXS-XXL, there’s definitely a perfect fit for everyone!
