Hi Everyone! It’s been a little while since our last Retro Foodie post. Yes, we’re planning the next installment of our ’80s-style culinary series, which is as much about creating amazing tablescapes as it is about the food. This month we present a pastel party! The photo shoot is this coming weekend, and we’ll be posting the pics next week. For now, we’d like to share our mood board, as well as the inspiration for the foodie fun. A Villeroy & Boch dishware pattern from the 1980s and an eye-catching recipe for ice cream squares started it all. Read on for more candy-colored details…

Anyone watching the Oscars this Sunday? I’m a bit of a film enthusiast… I never miss a South by Southwest Film Festival, and I totally nerded out in high school and college while studying film by watching movies during my free time and taking notes. I love the Academy Awards, especially since it combines film with a chance to entertain–one of my other passions. So it makes sense that over the course of Mirror80’s history, I’ve put together a few photo shoots for party concepts that can double as Oscar night fetes. Today we look back at the top 3. Enjoy!

Feeling festive today? I am! I decided to stage an impromptu photo shoot using my growing stash of party supplies. You may recognize them from previous Retro Foodie photo shoots. Retro Foodie: A Retro Valentine’s Day Party
Today we share our latest Retro Foodie photo shoot–a decadent Valentine’s Day party featuring an assortment of chocolate and cheese! The inspiration: heart-themed paper straws found at none other than Target. Their bold simplicity inspired the palette and style of this fête. A simple red heart cut from poster board serves as a classic backdrop, while a metallic vase filled with daisies sets an ’80s tone. Let’s talk about the food…
An Awards Show Party with Retro Style

A Retro New Year’s Eve Party
Hi, Everyone! Can you believe it’s almost 2014? What are your New Year’s Eve plans? My hubby and I were thinking of throwing a party… But over the course of the last month or so, we’ve dealt with our fair share of chaos, including a car accident and a surgery. But that didn’t stop me from staging a Retro Foodie photo shoot in honor of the upcoming holiday. And this vignette will also work for an awards show party (hey, the Golden Globes and the Oscars are on the horizon). So read on for all the details…
’80s Party Time!
Hi Everyone! It’s been a very busy few days, but I’m back and happy to start the week with a new post! This past weekend we celebrated Mirror80’s 3rd birthday. And of course, I threw a little shindig for our latest Retro Foodie post. Stay tuned for all the pics this Friday. Until then, here’s a peek…
Planning Mirror80’s 3rd Birthday Party…
We at Mirror80 love a good party! Especially a foodie party… With Mirror80’s 3rd birthday on the horizon, we thought we’d commemorate the event with a confetti- and color-themed bash. With influences ranging from Memphis-Milano style to ’80s yuppie culture, the party possibilities are endless. Our biggest sources of inspiration have been simple and timeless 1980s party decorations (of the colorful variety), as well as ’80s modern abstract art.

Retro Foodie: A Neon Noir Party
Greetings, ’80s-Lovers! Today we reveal our latest Retro Foodie adventure: a Neon Noir Party Menu that combines tropical style with easy entertaining. If you’re a fan of Neon Noir, you know the flip side of this crime-filled genre is the glamorous vibe that underscores each dangerous plotline. Because undercover detectives working the streets of 1980s Miami would never wear anything less than designer suits, right? This party channels a bit of neon, a dash of the tropics, and a sampling of food and drink. Enjoy!
