Phil, thank you for this helpful information! I've been curious about those prints for a long time, and I believe I saw similar art in another '80s film (which I can't seem to recall). Thanks for writing in and solving the mystery!

Wow, Jimmy Cuomo--you just made my week! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment. I'd love to feature you in a blog post and get your thoughts on '80s production design. Your retro-modern work on KIDS INCORPORATED and Pee-Wee's Playhouse is amazing, and you have inspired so many with your design!

No mention of the guy who designed the set, awesome underground comics artist Gary Panter? He won three Emmys for that set! You should look at the asthetics of 80s comix, like RAW and Love & Rockets. Check out "The Angriest Dog In The World" by David Lynch!

Oh, I want all of those watches.

I had a colorful paint splatter-like watch as a kid. I no longer have it (or, can't find it anyway), and can't figure out what style it was. I sure want to figure it out and buy a new one. It had paint splatters on each number, then a blue band with red and yellow band adjustment things.
